British trade minister visits OICCI

The main function of the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) is to protect and promote the existing commercial, industrial, financial interest and promote foreign investment in the country. According to a press release, the OICCI President, Farooq Rehmatullah, said this on Monday while welcoming Douglas Alexander, the Minister of Trade, Investment & Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom. Hamish St Clair Daniel, British Deputy High Commissioner, also accompanied the trade minister.
Farooq said: "Britain is one of the largest investors in Pakistan and also a major trading partner."
The OICCI president reviewed the travel advice of the British government to Pakistan and also resumption of the British Airways flights from Karachi.
He also discussed with the British minister improvement in the law and order situation in the country and further strengthening of bilateral relations.
Farooq briefed the delegation about the privatisation process, improvement in infrastructure, including roads, electricity and changing of overseas perception about Pakistan.
He discussed regulatory issues with the British minister.
Douglas Alexander assured the members of the chamber that their suggestions would receive due consideration of his government.
The delegation also met the members of the managing committee, head of firms, members of Pakistan Business Trade & investment Forum and Pakistan-British Business Advisory Group.-PR
