The leadership of the Businessmen Panel (BP) has welcomed the Director Trade Organisations (DTO) verdict on arbitral tribunal and said that it would contest remaining phases of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FPCCI) elections to be held soon after Eidul Azha.
BP chairman Tariq Saeed in his statement issued here on Thursday said that his group welcomed resumption of the FPCCI electoral process and hopes that the opponent group would show similar generosity to restore the dignity of the apex representative body of industrialists and traders.
He said the DTO's verdict has set a clear stage for elections of vice-presidents and presidents of the FPCCI.
The FPCCI elections had set a serious setback when after the 'A' and 'B' class associations' elections, which were swept with thumping majority, the BF taken up the matter before the court of law. The court directed the DTO to hear the case and decide the matter within 20 days. The DTO disposed of the issue and constituted the arbitral tribunal.
Tariq Saeed claimed that his group would win vice-presidents and president elections and make the FPCCI a vibrant body to protect the interest of industrialists and traders, besides helping creating conducive environment for more commercial activities in the country. He hoped elections of vice-presidents and president before January 31.
