Government to create 12,000 new jobs: minister

Punjab Minister for Industries Ajmal Cheema has said the government was going to create 12,000 new jobs by speeding up the process of industrialisation in the province. He disclosed this while addressing the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected office-bearers of the Lahore Township Industries Association (LTIA) here on Saturday. Cheema maintained the government was planning to establish a 650-acre new industrial estate with existing industrial estate in Multan, besides setting up a carpet city near Sunder Industrial Estate.
Four thousand new carpet centres would also be set up to provide job opportunities to the people living in various villages of the province, he added.
On the occasion, LTIA Chairman Nasrullah Mughal announced to set up Tsunami Relief Fund in the industrial area. He also paid tributes to Punjab Chief Minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi, Federal Minister for Industries Jehangir Tareen and Provincial Minister for Industries Ajmal Cheema for establishing Industrial Development Committee and allocating a huge amount of Rs 20 billion for development in the Industrial areas.
LCCI Vice-President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad, former LCCI President Mian Anjum Nisar and former LTIA Chairman Ahsan Mehmood Butt also spoke on the occasion.
