17 Jan, 2005

Two alternative routes for Jinnah Terminal at the Karachi Airport have been planned and talks are being held with a Japanese company for the construction of one route, City Nazim Naimatullah Khan said here on Saturday. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of sewerage system in Model Colony at a cost of Rs 110 million, he said one of the routes would be from the University Road via Gulistan-e-Johar to airport and would solve the problem faced by passengers to Karachi airport on a permanent basis.
"When I took up the responsibility of city Nazim, 1500 parks were in battered condition, 500 playgrounds were not fit for play. The sewerage system was also crumbling under the pressure but by honest, dedicated and relentless service we have changed the shape of the city which wears a new look," he said.
The improved situation is attracting foreign investors, the Nazim said.
