Marcus Trescothick kept England's hopes of victory alive with a defiant century on the fourth day of the fourth Test against South Africa on Sunday. England were 197 for five in their second innings, a lead of 189, when bad light ended play 14.4 overs early. Trescothick was 101 not out, his 10th test century, having faced 164 balls and hit 15 fours. Geraint Jones was one not out.
England declared their first innings on 411 for eight. South Africa made 419 all out with Herschelle Gibbs hitting 161. The five-match series is drawn at 1-1.
