Unauthorised entry of field staff at CBR headquarters banned

18 Jan, 2005

The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) on Monday banned tax officials of field formation from entering headquarters premises without prior permission.
The CBR has decided to take action against the officials, who would visit the Board without obtaining requisite permission, under the Removal of Services (Special Powers) Ordinance 2000. The Board has dispatched an order to all the commissioners of income tax, collectors of customs and sales tax and other departments working under the CBR for strict compliance.
According to the notification, it has been observed that the employees of field formations visit the CBR without authority. This practice is not only contrary to the normal procedure but also hinders smooth working of the Board.
The competent authority taking serious notice of the violation decided that no employee would visit CBR (Headquarters), Islamabad without written permission of the concerned head of the department.
While allowing permission to visit the Board, the concerned head of department may clearly mention the purpose of visit of the official along with his recommendations for convenience of the Board.
Failure to comply with these instructions would be proceeded against under the Removal from Service (Special Powers) Ordinance, 2000.
