Younus Dalia gets interim bail in another case

Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice Mohammad Mujeebullah Siddiqui on Monday admitted former Habib Bank Limited (HBL) president Younus Dalia to interim bail against a surety of Rs l00,000 and personal bond in the like amount. The petitioner sought bail in a case registered by FIA (Crimes in Banking Circle) under section 406/420/468/471/34 PPC on complaint made by HBL Vice President Ilyas Dadoo, Cloth Market branch, lodged as early as 1997.
He was accused of causing a loss of Rs 229 million to the HBL. The investigation was pending and applicant/accused was traced by the police in the last week of December 2004. Anticipating arrest, the accused moved the SHC seeking protective bail to surrender before the trial court.
Agitating medical grounds and elderly age, the accused prayed for pre-arrest interim bail. The bench hearing the counsel accused admitted him to bail for 10 days while directing applicant to deposit Rs l00,000 as surety.
The same bench also admitted an accused Mohammad Akbar to bail against a surety of Rs 500,000 and personal bond in the like amount.
A.Q. Halepota, counsel for applicant appearing before the bench submitted that applicant was wanted by the NAB authorities and a warrant of arrest has been issued against him. The bench after hearing the counsel for applicant admitted him to pre-arrest bail while issuing notice to Deputy Prosecutor General NAB for January 26, 2005.
