SSGC workers donate Rs 4.92 million for tsunami victims

Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Amanullah Khan Jadoon called on Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Tuesday at the PM House and presented him a cheque for Rs 4.92 million. The amount had been contributed by employees of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) for the President's Relief Fund for Tsunami affected people. The premier, while appreciating this gesture of the SSGC employees said that others should follow this example and contribute to the Presidential Relief Fund.
He said this would help in mitigating the sufferings of the Tsunami-affected people.
The Petroleum minister informed the prime minister that the SSGC had already sent relief boxes containing rice, sugar, pulses, milk, dates and biscuits to the affected people of Sri Lanka and Indonesia through the honorary consul general of each country.
He also briefed Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz about the matters pertaining to his ministry and ongoing development projects in his area.
The prime minister said Pakistan was very rich in natural resources and directed that the ministry should make all out efforts to tap these undiscovered reserves.
"This would help in creating more job opportunities and generating economic activities in the country in addition to saving the import bill," he added.
