Illegal structures razed

The demolition squad of the Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA) carried out demolition and sealing of various illegal structures in the city on Tuesday. A KBCA demolition team sealed shops in Sector 14-B, Phase-4, Shadman Town, while illegally constructed RCC roof, columns and walls on compulsory open space on Plot No C-60 and C-60/1 in Clifton Block-2, Saddar Town, were pulled down.
Another team demolished the walls, RCC columns, stage and rooms of a marriage hall illegally constructed on plots C-103, 104 and 105, Block-7, Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town.
The team also removed the shuttering of illegal shops on ground floor on Plot No 93 and 94 in Katchi Memon Co-operative Housing Society.
In Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town, the RCC roof of an illegal 4th floor on Plot No 174, Bihar Muslim Co-operative Society, was demolished with the help of gas cutters.
Meanwhile, Controller of Buildings Mumtaz Hyder has been posted in the Master Plan Group of Offices. He is replaced by COB Industrial Iftekhar Qaimkhani appointed as officiating Secretary of Technical Committee for dangerous buildings.
