Iqra University donates Rs 0.5 million for tsunami victims

Iqra University Chancellor Hunaid Lakhani has announced a donation of Rs 500,000 (0.5 million) towards the Tsunami Relief Fund of the President. He made this announcement while speaking at a function organised by the Students Council to celebrate the seventh anniversary of the institution, says a statement on Tuesday. The Chancellor was of the view that it was the duty of every member of the society to actively participate in humanitarian works.
He urged students and educational institutions to do their best for the help of the tsunami victims that hit the South and Southeast Asia on December 26.
Hunaid Lakhani said the sapling that was planted seven years ago in the shape of Iqra University had now grown into a full tree and a number of youngsters were benefiting by acquiring higher education from here.
He stated that soon announcement would be made for MPhil and Ph.D. programmes in education. The Chancellor further stated the Iqra University, a private sector educational institution, had as many as 30 PhDs as its faculty members.
