The vigilance staff of Collectorate of Customs (Export) at the Air Freight Unit (AFU) at Jinnah Terminal recovered about three kilogram of heroin cleverly concealed in cavities of photo frames. Frames along with other items, such as bed sheets, table cloth and magazines, were recovered from a parcel booked by a courier service M/S A .J. World-wide Services for the UK.
Preliminary investigation with the courier company revealed that the said consignment was reportedly booked by one Ms Bushra, who was accompanied by another person Usman Abbas.
The former refused to provide photocopy of her NIC and instead she gave her NIC No mentioned in the courier company airway bill. Usman Abbas also provided a photocopy of his identity card. He also signed the pro forma invoice in the space provided for the shipper's signature.
On scrutiny of the documents it has transpired that in the shipper's column of airway bill, submitted by the courier company, the name of one Asim c/o of Bushra Zaidi and her husband Sardar Zaidi NIC No 42201-2318275-4 appeared.
