Arabica coffee futures ended modestly weaker Wednesday as speculators took profits on yesterday's rally, traders said. The New York Board of Trade's March contract settled at 104.10 cents a lb, off 0.30 cent, after trading from 103.30 to 105.25 cents. The March contract on Tuesday climbed more than 4 percent to finish at a three-week high of 104.40 cents, nearing its peak of 108.70 cents scaled on December 21.
Among longer-dated contracts, May likewise slid 0.30 cent to 106.30 cents and more distant deliveries shed 0.30 to 0.35 cents.
Estimated trading volume amounted to 11,303 lots, down from Tuesday's tally of 20,002 contracts. Open interest rose 2,154 lots to 100,093 lots as of January 18.
