Punjab schools admission rate up 13.3 percent

Due to steps taken by the Punjab government for promotion of education in the province, the rate of admission in public schools has increased 13.3 percent. This was stated by Punjab Co-operative Minister Colonel Malik Muhammad Anwar (Retd), while talking to delegations of teachers here on Thursday. He said the government has allocated Rs 7,696 million for the development of educational institutions in the province.
At present, the provincial government is running 63,200 schools and 417 colleges, where 298,905 teachers are imparting education to about nine million students, the minister added.
