Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi chairing a high-level meeting here on Thursday said a new law in order to facilitate people and promote housing sector was on the anvil. The Chief Minister added under the forthcoming legislation, private developers would be bound to give figure of their plots and mode of allotment, in their advertisements to the press.
He said it would be mandatory for private developers that they possessed the ownership rights of the housing scheme and at least 80 percent of the land being sold by them was available with them.
He said Municipal Administration and other public sector departments would be bound by new legislation to facilitate in approval of housing schemes.
The Chief Minister averred that Housing schemes in their development endeavour were bound to adhere to high standards in sewerage, sanitation. 'Under the new law all the housing schemes are required to have at least 160 kanal of land, for their housing venture', he added.
Provincial Law Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja and Secretary Local Government gave a briefing on different aspects of the coming legislation on the occasion.
