Punjab Assembly members body to look into private schools affairs

In pursuance of proceedings of the Punjab Assembly, the Punjab Education Minister Mian Imran Masood has constituted a committee comprising the Punjab Assembly members (MPAs) to look into the affairs of private schools. Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan will be the Convenor of the committee whereas Chaudhry Nazar Hussain Gondal Parliamentary Secretary for Education, Muhammad Arshad Chairman Standing Committee for Education, Aftab Ahmed Khan, Rana Sanaullah Khan, Syed Ehsan Ullah Waqas, Muhammad Mohsin Khan Leghari, Abdul Rashid Bhatti, Ijaz Ahmed Sehole, Brigadier Muhammad Hassan (Retd), Humaira Awais and Dr Anjum Amjad MPAs will be the members of this committee.
According to the terms of the committee, it shall address the apprehension of the stakeholders apart from encouraging private sector to play a positive role towards the promotion of education in the province. The committee would also study the Punjab Private Educational Institution's Promotion and Regulation Rules 1984 in vogue and the problems being faced by the parents, students and private institutions and recommend new piece of legislation in accordance with the contemporary needs.
Public Instructions (EE) Punjab Lahore Director Jamil Najam will act as Secretary of the Committee and record all proceedings. The officer co-opted official members are Additional Secretary (General) Education Department, Director Public Instructions (Colleges) Punjab, Director Public Instruction (SE) Punjab, Executive District Officer (Education) Lahore, Deputy Secretary (Academic) Higher Education Wing and Deputy Secretary (Academic) School Education wing. The committee is required to formulate its recommendations and submit report within a month.
