Snowfall closes Muzaffarabad and Rawalpindi road link

Intense snowfall has closed Muzaffarabad's road links with Rawalpindi and other cities. Gilgit, Muzaffarabad and Mansehra have received snowfall after several years gap. Gilgit received a snowfall after 10 years gap, Meteorological Department sources said. The city has received 1 inch snowfall till now. Muzaffarabad has also received snowfall after several years giving the harsh weather a pleasant change. Neelum Valley, Leepa, Chikar, Pir Chanasi have received intense snowfall resulting in disruption of land link with Muzaffarabad.
Muzaffarabad-Rawalpindi road via Murree, Muzaffarabad-Neelum Valley road and Muzaffarabad-Reshman Leepa road were closed for all traffic after the heavy snowfall.
Mansehra has also received snowfall after six years as eight-inch snow was recorded in the area. Naran and Kala Dhaka have received over three ft. snow. Karakoram Highway was closed for traffic near Sharkol Chhatarplan due to snowfall, while in all four districts link roads were also choked by the heavy snow.
Mercury has further dropped after the snowfall. CNG vehicles facing problems in the area due to the chilly weather.
Meteorological Department has forecast more snowfall and heavy to light rains during the next 48 hours.
Cloudy weather has been predicted for Rawalpindi and Islamabad with chances of rain during the next 24 hours.
