Work on Islamabad and Muzaffarabad highway starts

24 Jan, 2005

The construction work, under phased programme, has started to carve out the new dual-carriage grand highway between Islamabad and Muzaffarabad by the National Highway Authority of Pakistan, official sources said. The sources told APP here on Sunday that the highway will be completed up to lower topa (Murree) in the first phase. Later on it will be extended up to Muzaffarabad and at the last leg it will be extended to Chakothi. The new highway will reduce the travelling time and distance between Islamabad and Muzaffarabad to greater extent, said the sources.
The grand project is the part of the present federal government's plan to provide latest means of communications and comfortable travelling facilities to the commuters particularly the Kashmiris hailing from various parts of Muzaffarabad division.
