A simple but impressive ceremony was held here at Qasim Army Aviation Base to hand over the 100th helicopter to Army Aviation overhauled by 503 Aviation Base Workshop. Vice Chief of Army Staff General Saleem Hayat was the chief guest on the occasion. The chief guest formally handed over the recently overhauled Puma helicopter to the squadron. General Ahsan Saleem Hayat acknowledged the professional excellence and congratulated all ranks on the achievement of this historic landmark.
Speaking on the occasion he said by utilising expertise and professional excellence of engineers and technicians, the workshop had attained a significant landmark by accomplishing the overhaul of 100 helicopters within the country, which was a true reflection of nation's endeavour towards self-reliance.
Earlier, Commander 503 Aviation Base Workshop Brigadier Mansoor Ahmed in his opening address highlighted the historical perspective of overhauling activities.
General Officer Commanding (GOC) Army Aviation Major General Javed Aslam Tahir while addressing on the occasion appreciated all ranks of the workshop for the milestone achievement.
503 Aviation Base Workshop is an elite outfit of Army Aviation Maintenance System, which enjoys unique distinction of being pioneer in helicopter maintenance and overhaul in Pakistan.
503 Aviation Base Workshop is certified for ISO. The establishment is also approved by Civil Aviation Authority to undertake repair and overhaul of the aircraft being operated by the civil organisation. This certification and recognition has attracted a large number of foreign customers which will result in huge foreign exchange revenues for national exchequer.
