Suicide bomber's head handed over to father

The head of the terrorist involved in the suicide attack on Shaukat Aziz was handed over to his father for burial in his ancestral graveyard in Lahore. The anti Terrorist Court Judge Rawalpindi Safdar Hussain Malik after hearing the father of the suicide bomber Irfan. The head of the investigation team Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Rana Shahid, the investigation team inspector Chaudhary Riaz and other officials presented Mukhtar Ahmed, father of the suicide bomber, in the Anti-Terrorist Court.
It may recall that Irfan along with his companion Ubaid held a suicide attack on Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on July 30, 2004 when then finance minister was on election campaign for national assembly seat to become eligible for prime minister's slot. Six people along with suicide bomber had been killed in the attack while 25 others injured.
The suicide bomber, Irfan, blew himself in Awan village of Attock district some 35 miles south-west of the Rawalpindi while another bomber failed to detonate his explosive belt.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police Rawalpindi few days back announced that police had arrested three brothers namely Abdul Basit, Abdul Manam and Nisar Ahmed from Awan village of Attock. He pronounced those three as key suspects in the suicide attempt on Shaukat Aziz.
In his application in the court of Safdar Hussain Malik, Mukhtar Ahmad pleaded that he had identified the head of his son from face and wanted to bury it in the ancestral graveyard in Miani Sahib Lahore. Accepting the plea of Mukhtar, the learned judge had directed the investigation team to hand over the head of the suicide bomber to his father.
In respect of the court order Rawalpindi Police team headed by DSP Shahid brought the head from a local hospital and handed it over to Mukhtar. It was an emotional scene when a father received the head of his deceased son after six months of his death.
