British firm keen to invest in Sindh coal fields

A British company, Raymond Professional Group Limited, has shown interest for investing in coal fields at Thar and Sonda in Sindh. A delegation of Raymond Group Limited met with Sindh Minister for Mines and Mineral Development Irfan Marwat here on Friday, and told him that their company, already engaged in such work in different countries, intended to make huge investment in coal fields here.
Irfan Marwat informed the delegation that certain foreign companies were already working at coal fields in Sindh, and several others had shown keen interest there.
He asked the Raymond Company to select the area and submit a plan of working.
Minister said that 13,000-Megawatt electricity would be generated by coal-based power plants till 2015, through which even far-flung villages would be electrified.
He assured the delegation of government's full co-operation. The delegation was led by Raymond Group Director General Peter G. Williams.
