Aitchison College branches to be opened in Punjab cities

Punjab Governor Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd) has announced to open branches of Aitchison College in various cities of the province including Faisalabad and Multan. He has also constituted a Task Force for setting up of Aitchison College for Women in Lahore. The Task Force would submit its report to the governor regarding collaboration with other public schools in next three months.
The decision was taken in a meeting of Board of Governors of the Aitchison College held here at Governor's House on Friday. Punjab Chief Secretary Kamran Rasool, Principal Secretary to Governor Muhammad Zia ur Rehman Khan, Secretary Finance Salman Siddique, Secretary Education Shahid Rashid, Aitchison College Principal Shamim Saif Ullah Khan, Board members Syed Babar Ali, Makhdoom Ahmad Mahmood, Raza Kuli Khan Khattak, Tariq Saeed Saigol, Sikandar Hayat Jamali, Noman Ahmad Khan and Begum Touqir Zia attended the meeting.
The Governor directed the college administration to evolve a policy for allocation of 30 percent seats for admission to talented but deserving students whose entire expenditures would be borne by the old Aitchisonian.
The meeting also approved the College's budget proposals for the year 2005.
The Governor appreciated Syed Babar Ali for offering construction of multi purpose complex for prep school in the Aitchison College.
He said that modern teaching technology must be adopted in that college of great importance in the South Asia.
The meeting also approved nomination of Justice Swinder Singh Sodhi from the Board of Governor of Yadwinder Public School Patiala in the Board of Governors of Aitchison College Lahore as a symbolic representation to old Aitchisonians in India.
