THE RUPEE: firm trend in open market

30 Jan, 2005

Firm trend was seen in the open market on Saturday as the rupee maintained its overnight levels versus the dollar for buying and selling at 59.25 and 59.35, dealers said. The easy supply of dollars helped the rupee show firmness in terms of the US currency, they added. The rupee also adopted the same path versus the euro for buying and selling at 77.30 and 77.60, they said.
In the world market, the dollar fell modestly against the euro, trimming earlier losses following below-consensus US growth data, as markets grew cautious ahead of a plethora of economic news and events next week.
