LHCBA slams police officials

The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) has condemned action of the police officials, who made good their escape from the Lahore High Court (LHC) premises, after rejection of their bail applications in a case pertaining to killings of judges. The bar in a meeting, held with its president Ahmed Awais, in the chair, called upon the government to suspend the above said police officials and also arrest them immediately.
While addressing the meeting, bar members including Dr Farooq Hasan, B A Fakhri, Malik Saeed Hasan and others said that the august court must take note of action of the said police officials.
They said that high police officials are not giving due importance to this important matter. They were of the view that the government is bound to arrest the said police officials and take action against them under the law.
PETITION AGAINST SBP: A member of the LHCBA has approached the Lahore High Court (LHC) against the respondent State Bank of Pakistan (SBP)'s decision regarding withdrawal of five rupee currency note.
The petitioner, M.D. Tahir contended that this action of the respondent is illegal and unconstitutional. He said with this decision of the respondent bank, the value of rupee will not only decrease, but the people will have to face hardships.
AGP CONDEMNED: Member Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), Hafiz Abdur Rehman Ansari has condemned the action of Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP), who failed to attend the meeting of the bar held in connection with election of vice-chairman PBC.
While talking to newsmen, Ansari said that the AGP was bound to attend the meeting but he failed to perform this duty.
Moreover, PBC has announced that the Dadabhoy Institution of Higher Education is not recognised by the bar, hence it is not competent to impart legal education. The legal education committee of the bar, which considered the issue, observed that law graduates of the said institution are not entitled for enrolment as advocate.
