Rising demand for sugar, pushed the prices sharply up on the grain market on Wednesday, dealers said. On the cereals side, sugar prices went up by Rs 105-110 to Rs 2540 and Rs 2580, respectively. Gur prices followed suit and picked up Rs 50 for both types to Rs 2000-2350 on tight supply position, brokers said. Khandsari also picked up the same amount to Rs 2000-2400.
Same trend was witnessed on the seed side as cottonseeds oilcake with bag gained rupee three to Rs 410-415 in the process of trading, dealers said. Other commodities maintained their overnight levels on balanced demand and supply factor, they added.
