Kenyan tea prices mixed

03 Feb, 2005

Kenya tea prices were mixed, as buyers followed varying quality for top grades, dealers said on Wednesday. Prices of Brighter Broken Pekoe Ones (BP1s) fell, with better grades losing substantially, African Tea Brokers (ATB) said. A total of 121,206 packages were offered for sale, with 9,535 unsold, compared with 133,018-offered last week.
Top and bottom prices for BP1s ranged between $0.08 and $0.30 lower than at the last auction. They fetched between $2.25 and $2.70 per kg compared with $2.33-$3.00 at the last auction.
