Motorway police will launch Global Positioning System (GPS) next month to monitor positions of its mobile units and ambulances patrolling on the motorway. This was stated by Deputy Inspector General, Motorway central N-5, Dr Wasim Kausar while talking to APP on Thursday. He said that instruments of GPS have been acquired for the installation of the system and added that it will be installed at the offices of DIG, SP and motorway headquarters.
"This vehicle tracking system will help motorway police to provide timely first aid to injured persons in case of any road accident," Dr Kausar said.
He said that infra-red Night Vision Cameras have been installed along the motorway to have instant information about accidents, over speeding, foggy conditions and violation of line and lane by the motorists.
He said that it had been difficult in the past to track over-speeding incidents at night. However, with the help of these cameras, it was possible to check this violation of traffic rules.
