Syrian Chamber chief invites Pakistani trade team

Farouk Dib Joud, Vice President, Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FSCCI), has invited Muhammad Saeed, President of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), to organise a delegation comprising government officials and private sector reps to attend Joint Ministerial Commission and Joint Business Council meetings scheduled to be held in Syria.
Speaking at a meeting at FPCCI here on Friday, Farouk Dib Joud said that Syria was liberalising its economy to welcome foreign investors.
He said that the investment law of 1991 has been modified in 2000 to attract foreign investment.
He said three industrial cities at Sheikjh Najjar in Aleppo, Hassaia in Homs and Adra in the countryside of Damascus are being developed to provide infrastructure facilities to the investors.
According to FPCCI press release, Muhammad Saeed promised to take up the matter of organising a delegation to Syria with commerce minister and arrange the delegation as soon as possible.
He said that he would persuade Pakistan's business community for joint venture investment in the textile sector in Syria which is producing one million bales of cotton.
