Murderer awarded death sentence

Rawalpindi District and Sessions Judge Abdul Qayyum has awarded death sentence to a murderer and three-year jail term to his companion. According to details, the Additional District and Sessions Judge, after hearing arguments of the two sides, found one Sharafat guilty and awarded death sentence to him.
The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 100,000 on the culprit.
Co-accused Sarfaraz was given three-year imprisonment and Rs 25,000 fine, while another co-accused Liaquat was acquitted on the benefit of doubt.
According to prosecution, Sharafat, along with his companions, has fired upon a businessman Ghazanfar Abbasi over a small brawl in the jurisdiction of the Saddar Police Station two years back.
Ghazanfar was running a business of cement and steel.
