Algeria bought 300,000 tonnes of optional milling wheat earlier this week and is seeking further tonnage, European traders said on Thursday. They said Algeria paid around $152 a tonne, cost and freight, for the wheat. Algeria had tendered for 50,000 tonnes of optional milling wheat at the end of January with shipment periods open to negotiation. The first offers received by the state-run OAIC grain board were at $157-$158 a tonne, traders said. Traders said the origin of the wheat was unknown at this stage.
