E-government customer service centre inaugurated

City Nazim Naimatullah Khan on Sunday inaugurated the first e-government customer service centre of the local government established in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town. At the centre, the people could register complaints on computer regarding water supply, sewerage, road damages, garbage and cleaning of drains through internet, telephone, post or in person on which immediate action will be taken.
DCO Karachi Fazlur Rehman, Naib City Nazim, Tariq Hasan, senior presiding officer City Council, Muslim Pervez, Town Nazim Abdul Wahab, Naib Town Nazim Engr. Saleem Azhar and other Nazims besides TMO Gulshan-e-Iqbal Matanat Ali Khan were also present on the occasion.
The complaints received at the centre will be forwarded to concerned departments and will be redressed in a maximum of five days.
The people can register their complaints at the centre through internet round the clock and from morning till 10 pm by telephone.
The complainants will be given computerised tracking number so that they could see the action on their complaint on Internet.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Naimatullah Khan announced that a customer service centre in City Government, too, will be started shortly.
He informed that work is in progress in City Government for networking of all the towns. The central server will be installed in the City Government's computer section.
City Nazim suggested that Customer Service Centre should be named as "Markaz Awami Khidmat". He referred to the construction of Karsaz, Stadium, Rashid Minhas and other roads and said that simultaneously 19 city roads are under construction.
He observed that certain Towns are short of resources, therefore, a system of brotherly division of resources between rich and poor Towns has been established. He pointed out that Gulberg Town carried out development works in Lyari Town.
Naimatullah Khan said efforts are being made for honoraria for UC Nazims and a decision in this regard will be taken soon.
He informed that an agreement will soon be concluded with an American firm for power generation from garbage. He said plants will be set up for power generation from garbage and desalination of sea water.
He declared that an elevated road will be constructed at Sharea Faisal from Airport to Metropole Hotel. The motorists using the road will pay toll tax. Talks are in progress with various companies for this project.
