Mushahid calls for UNSC membership to OIC

Secretary General of Pakistan Muslim League, Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed on Sunday called for reforming and activating Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) and including it as a member of UN Security Council to protect the rights of Muslim Ummah and resolve their problems. He made this calls while speaking to a group of journalists here at PML House.
Quoting two reports of UNSC reforms of September 2004 and US National Intelligent Council (OIC) of December 2004, he said unless and until long-standing issues of Kashmir, Palestine, Chechnya and Moros (Philippines) are not resolved, peace and prosperity cannot be achieved in the world.
He called for linking the resolution of the international problems like Kashmir and Palestine with UNSC reforms.
He also proposed for constituting a 3-member Muslim Countries Troika including President General Pervez Musharraf, Malaysian Prime Minister and Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.
He said members of this body would visit important G-7 and other countries to explain problems of Muslim Ummah and represent OIC to safeguard interests of Muslims and project true image of Islam in the West.
The Secretary General of PML also called far strengthening and promoting Islamic States Broadcasting Organisation (ISBO) and International Islamic News-agency (IINA) in order to protect rights of the Muslims and present the true image of Islam in the West.
He said idea of enlightened moderation of President Pervez Musharraf would also help improve the image of Islam and Muslim Ummah in the world.
This would also help bridge the gap between the rulers and general public of Muslim countries and sharing the wealth for the common good of Muslim Ummah.
He also proposed the establishment of a International Consortium of Islamic Countries for the promotion of science and technology and higher education in Muslim world.
He proposed that the OIC member countries should contribute 0.01 percent of their GDP in this fund.
He also proposed the establishment of OIC Trust Fund and contribution of 10 percent in the fund from the Zakat funds of Muslim countries.
He expressed the hope that establishment of Muslim Think-tank would help defend and protect the rights of the Muslims and their issues in the world.
Mushahid Hussain Sayed welcomed the establishment of an International Anti-Terrorist Centre to combat and pre-empt terrorism in the world, that had been proposed by Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz in Riyadh.
"Terrorism has no religion or country", he added.
He disclosed that Prime Minister of Malaysia is visiting Pakistan on February 15 or 16.
Mushahid Hussain Sayed also termed his visit of Malaysia to attend an OIC conference, highly successful.
