The federal government is planning to launch a pilot health insurance project in Punjab with the financial assistance of the Asian Development of Pakistan. Official source said that it is imperative to identify needs to review, revise, amend and develop existing health insurance and health care arrangements at both the federal and provincial levels.
It would also be assessed from results and lessons learnt from other projects and activities going on inside and outside Pakistan. Conduct intensive stakeholder consultations in order to get a maximum of support for the project. Conduct focus group discussions in the communities in order to assess problems and the preparedness for the concept of health insurance.
Based on the findings, identify activities and components to achieve the purpose of preparing the design of the Social Health Insurance Project. Determine scope, implementation arrangements and components of a possible loan of $30 million from Asian Development Bank for a Social Health Insurance Project.
