Badar issued notice in NAB reference

08 Feb, 2005

A full bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday issued notice to former Federal Minister Jehangir Badar in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference regarding assets case, and directed him to submit a detailed reply in two weeks. The Apex court comprising the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Nazim Hussain Siddiqui, Justice Javed Iqbal and Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar heard arguments of the NAB's Counsel Ahmer Bilal Soofi Advocate and issued notice to the respondent.
The Apex Court also issued notice to Attorney General of Pakistan to assist the court in the same case while hearing the appeal of NAB against the decision of Lahore High Court regarding bail matter of Jehangir Badar.
Lahore High Court granted bail to Jehangir Badar in 2002 in the same reference, which was challenged by the NAB in the Supreme Court. It may be recalled here that a reference against Jehangir Badar, who is also a central leader of PPPP, is still pending before the Accountability Court Lahore No 111.
