Dr Firdous exchanges views with Director Pak-Turk Foundation

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan exchanged views with Director Pak-Tur

Both sides have agreed to declare Sialkot and Kayseri as twin cities and also to establish the Pak Turk joint forum, PTV reported.

Dr. Firdous Aashiq Awan who arrived on Monday in Turkey is on a five-day official visit.

Federal Minister said that Pak Turk Joint Forum will be made active through regular exchange of high level delegations on both sides.

It is pertinent to mention here that Kayseri is a large and industrialized city in Central Anatolia, Turkey. The city of Kayseri is structurally composed of five metropolitan districts, the two core districts of Kocasinan and Melikgazi, and since 2004, also Hacilar, Incesu and Talas. It is the ninth most populous city in Turkey.

Sialkot is considered the largest export based industrial city of Pakistan having millions of dollars exports especially in the sector of sports and surgical instruments besides many others.

According to details, during her stay in Turkey, Dr Firdous will also offer condolence to Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan on the demise of his mother. She will also meet Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Anince and other ministers.

She is also scheduled to meet news editors and bureau chiefs of various media groups, including Zaman and Hurriat.

Besides, she will also participate in a fund raising telethon for flood victims of Sindh on Samanvolu TV and attend a fund raising dinner hosted by 'Kimse Yok Mu' solidarity, a local charity organization.

Moreover, she will visit Faith University to meet its Rector and to address the faculty and students.

The visit is significant in a sense that MOUs will be signed between Associated Press of Pakistan Corporation (APPC) and Anadalou News of Turkey and between Pakistan Television and TRT.

It will not only boost cooperation between the two countries in the field of media but also devise programmes to exchange news, dramas and other technical cooperation between state televisions.
