Police seized huge quantity of narcotics worth millions of rupees and arrested three drug peddlers at Akbar Chowk, Township area on Sunday. Police sources said that on a tip-off that narcotics were being smuggled from frontier province, the Township police set a picket near Akbar Chowk and started checking of the vehicles.
In the meantime, police spotted a suspected vehicle and after thorough checking police recovered 240-kg hashish and 4-kg opium that was concealed in the secret cavities of the vehicle. The drug-peddlers identified as Anwar Khan, Sher Alam and Karamat Ali were also arrested by police.
Further investigation is underway.
