Pakistan People's Party Parliamentarian, Punjab, has alleged that the provincial government has asked the DPOs and DCOs to take necessary steps for success of its nominated candidates in the forthcoming local bodies elections. "Punjab Chief Minister, Pervaiz Elahi, some two weeks back, also chaired a meeting of the DCOs and DPOs and directed them to take steps so that the ruling PML could sweep in the forthcoming LB polls," said Naveed Chaudhry, the party's provincial secretary information while briefing the reporters after a meeting of district secretaries information here on Monday.
He stated that meeting decided to form monitoring teams at district levels so as to check alleged rigging and irregularities in the local bodies' elections. The meeting expressed concern over deteriorating law and order situation and escalating price hike.
Naveed demanded resignations of all the four chief ministers on what he said corrupt practices on their part. He alleged that Punjab chief minister had stopped the authorities from taking any action on auditor general's report against district governments.
To a question, he said that his party would not strike any deal with the military regime. He demanded fresh elections in 2005 under the supervision of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP).
