Member of House of Commons, Canada, Carolyn Parrish, who is currently visiting Pakistan, accompanied by the members of Pakistan community in Canada visited Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH). Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Dr Faisal briefed the delegation members about the performance, facilities and future plans of the hospital, which vitally include expansion of building and establishment of research laboratory as main priorities.
He also apprised the delegation members about modern and latest equipment being used by the hospital.
Expressing her views, Parrish appreciated the hospital administration for using latest technology for providing modern treatment facilities to the patients. 'After visiting this unique hospital in a third world country, I could say without any hesitation that the hospital itself spoke of its quality, as its standard is at par with any hospital in Canada', she said.
She was of the view that rendering standardised and best health services to people of country like Pakistan is a big feat and hospital rightly deserved applause for that.
It is an amazing reality the hospital holds the position of only private hospital in world treating 75 percent patients free of cost, without any substantial financial support from the government sector.
Later she met the child patients and inquired about their health. She also distributed souvenirs among patients, attendants and staff members as a friendly gesture.
