Pakistan and Qatar to cooperate in petroleum sector

Pakistan and Qatar have agreed to cooperate in the gas pipeline project, liquefied natural gas (LNG), technical assistance and investment in the oil and gas. A joint communiqué issued here on Wednesday at the conclusion of the two-day meeting between the visiting Deputy Premier and Minister for Energy and Industries Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah and Pakistani Minister Amanullah Khan Jadoon said that both sides focused on promoting bilateral co-operation in the field of oil and gas.
It said that they both agreed to set up a high-level committee headed by the, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources Secretary and Qatari Director of Oil and Gas Ventures for discussing and resolving technical and other related issues with regard to Pak-Qatar gas pipeline project.
In view of advance technological expertise of the State of Qatar in the field of LNG, import of LNG from Qatar to Pakistan was considered as an additional option to be pursued on parallel basis.
The Qatari side offered to provide technical assistance in different areas of oil and gas sectors to Pakistan.
