Security measures in Faisalabad reviewed

Corps Commander Lieutenant General Javaid Alam Khan has directed that all necessary steps be taken for maintenance of peace and order during Muharram and that all miscreants and trouble-makers be crushed with full force. He here issued this direction, during a meeting in which Muharram arrangements and allied matters were reviewed. Besides GOC Major General Shahid Iqbal, DIG Chaudhry Sajjad Ahmad, District Nazim Chaudhry Zahid Nazir, DCO Athar Hussain Sial, DPO Captain Amin Waince (Retd) and other civil and military officers also attended the meeting.
The Corps Commander stressed the need for adoption of fool-proof measures to maintain law and order during Muharram, saying that full authority and strength be utilised for achieving this object.
He said that troops had reached Faisalabad and Jhang, and when required they would perform their duties with full vigour, agility, competence and swiftness.
The Corps Commander expressed satisfaction over the fact that his advice to improve the security watch of eight bazars and Circular Road areas with the help of video cameras had been implemented, and now the Tower Security Force was operational.
He directed that video cameras be used to enhance the scope of security watch for the 12 major Chowks of the city as well.
The District Nazim and the DCO briefed the Corps Commander about the arrangements made with the help of slides, maps, charts, etc.
Later, General Javaid Alam also addressed the members of District Peace Committee. He said that all arrangements had been finalised for ensuring peace during Muharram, and declared that all trouble-makers would be dealt with severity.
He hoped that the Ulema would work for the promotion of peace, amity, tolerance and brotherhood and play their role in ensuring peace during Muharram.
He said that troops had already reached here but he hoped that peace would prevail and army's help would not be needed. He, however, expressed his resolve that if and when required, the troops would discharge their duties with full zeal and commitment.
