Kalam remains cut off from rest of country

Thirty one persons have so far been killed in Kalam due to heavy snowfall in the area. Snowfall is continuing. Thirty five glaciers fell in the area. According to a BBC report, at least two hundred houses have been destroyed. Five to six hydropower projects have also been damaged and two villages were complete destroyed. The government has done nothing for us and the area, the local people complained. Electricity is suspended and we ourselves restored telephone system, they added.
It may be pointed out that Kalam is cut off from the rest of the country from February, 1. The people are facing acute food shortage, and they have nothing to eat. There is a shortage of rice and grains.
Due to inclement weather condition relief goods have not reached the area. Even helicopters carrying relief goods could not land in the area, the local people pointed out.
