The two-day International Kashmir peace conference on "Peace Initiative in South Asia: Exploring Possible Options for Kashmir" will be held at the United Nations Headquarters New York on February 24 and 25. "The Conference is being held under the auspices of the International Educational Development (accredited with the UN ECOSOC) and the Kashmiri American Council with the co-operation of various other global peace and human rights organisations", disclosed Nazar Abbas Shah, Chairman, Movement for Peace Organisation.
While leaving for New York on Friday he said that this year's conference had come at a crucial point in south Asian history adding that the international community wanted peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue.
He continued that since both India and Pakistan recently placed Kashmir on a negotiating agenda, the world community was expecting positive outcome of the ongoing composite dialogue between the two countries viz. the early peaceful solution of Kashmir dispute, he added.
Nazar Abbas Shah called for the involvement of Kashmiris in the composite dialogue to ensure the early settlement of Kashmir dispute according to aspirations of Kashmiris.
