Sindh governor and chief minister inspect Muharram arrangements

Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan on Friday expressed satisfaction on strict security measures for maintaining law and order situation in Muharram, saying these arrangements were better as compared to previous year. "City District Government Karachi (CDGK), provincial government and law enforcing are working with better co-ordination this year to maintain peace and sanctity of Muharram" he said while talking to newsmen during three-hour long visit of imam bargahs of Karachi.
Chief Minister Sindh Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui, Sindh Irrigation Minister Nadir Akmal Leghari, Provincial Minister for Labour and Industries Adil Siddiqui, Adviser to Chief Minister Sindh for Information, Chief Secretary Sindh Aslam Sanjrani, DCO Karachi Fazlur Rehman, Acting IGP Sindh Asad Jehangir, CCPO Karachi Tariq Jameel and other officials also accompanied him during the visit.
Governor said that government had taken similar security arrangements for all districts of Sindh and establishment of medical camps was given special emphasis this year while three control rooms were set up simultaneously in Governor House, CDGK secretariat, and Sindh information department.
During the visit, governor met with organisers of Muharram processions near Empress Market, Saddar and asked people about the arrangements and facilities provided by the government including water supply, lighting and electricity.
Ibad lauded co-operation of ulema, organisers of processions and people for maintaining peaceful environment during Muharram. On this occasion, concerned town municipal officers, DCO Karachi and CCPO Karachi informed him about details regarding Muharram arrangements.
Members of board of trustees of imam bargahs and organisers of processions hailed co-operation of police, provincial administration and concerned TMOs.
Expressing gratitude to governor Sindh for visiting imam bargahs and inspecting Muharram-ul-Haram arrangements for the third consecutive year, administration of Imam Bargah Shuhada-i-Karbala, Ancholi said it was the first time that governor and chief minister came together along with provincial ministers and officials.
Ishratul Ibad Khan while visiting Imam Bargah Ali Raza, being devastated in bomb attack last year, inquired about reconstruction of the mosque and imam bargah.
Board of trustee of the said imam bargah complained that compensation amount for reconstruction of the imam bargah had not yet been paid.
Governor Sindh directed chief secretary Sindh to pay cheque of Rs one million to administration of the imam bargah till Tuesday so that reconstruction works could be completed earlier.
Governor and chief minister visited Imam Bargah Shah Khurasan, Rizvia Imam Bargah, Babul Ilm Mosque, Islamic Research Centre, Jamia Sibtain, Imam Bargah Mehfil-i-Murtaza, Imam Bargah Ali Raza, Imam Bargah Shuhada-i-Karbala, Jama Masjid Bu Turab while they also visited Khursheed Begum Memorial Hall, Azizabad where they were welcomed by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) co-ordination committee members.
