A group of peace activists from Pakistan and India is planning to undertake journey on foot from Delhi to Multan from March 23. Travelling on thousand kilometers long belt, the activists would start from the Dargah Sharif of Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia (RA) in Delhi on Mar 23 and march through Sonipat, Panipat Kurukshetra, Ambala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Amritsar among other towns to reach the tomb of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakaria (RA) in Multan on May 11.
They would hopefully cross the border at Wagah on April 16 and also walk through Lahore, the ancient site of Harappa, and other cities in Pakistan before finally reaching the destination- Multan.
The activist would march through the same route that the renowned sufi saint Hazrat Khwaja Nizamuddin Aulia (RA) had travelled way back in 13th century.
"We learnt that Hazrat Nizamuddin walked from Delhi to Multan in 1257 to meet a well-known mystic. Through our walk now we want to highlight the mysticism of the region and thereby carry the message of peace", said Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research Executive Director, Karamat Ali here.
A core group of l30 people from the two countries would walk the entire distance, however their visa applications were yet to be processed, said a news report.
The march, starting from Mar 23 and expected to finish on May 11, would be joined by Nirmala Deshpande, Swami Agnivesh and Karamat Ali among others from both sides, added the report.
