President takes notice of traffic jams

President General Pervez Musharraf taking strict notice of stopping of traffic in Rawalpindi and Islamabad for VVIP movement, causing inconvenience to the general public, directed concerned authorities to immediately redress the issue on both immediate and long-term basis and ease travelling in the twin cities. A meeting in this regard held at Aiwan-e-Sadr chaired by Chief of Staff to the President, and was attended by traffic managers and security personnel of both the President and Prime Minister's Secretariats.
A committee including all relevant personnel and headed by Secretary Interior was constituted, to streamline procedures so as to minimise the inconvenience to the commuters. It would submit its initial report within 30 days.
