Custom collectors to be held responsible for taxation frauds

The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has decided to hold custom collectors responsible on detection of tax fraud cases within their jurisdiction. Official sources told Business Recorder on Tuesday that it is a bold step to control tax frauds committed by unscrupulous elements in connivance with the tax officials. It has been decided that the collectors would be held responsible for any type of taxation fraud in the collectorate. The collector should devise a mechanism to eliminate the menace of misdeclaration and under-invoicing, the CBR directive added.
