Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority Sindh Region has taken punitive action against a number of cable operators in interior Sindh for illegal operations and showing obscene/pornographic channels. The enforcement team imposed fine and seized facilities, apparatus/equipment of CTV operators for illegal/unlicensed operation in the districts of Naushero Feroze, Khairpur and Nawab Shah. Pemra has directed all illegal cable operators to get them registered with the Authority and get licenses.
Under PEMRA Ordinance 2002 binds cable operators to provide clean entertainment to the subscribers. Pemra has warned that strict action would be taken against the violators of Pemra Rules and Regulations.
All cable operators have been directed to upgrade their equipment and improve standard and quality of their service to the subscribers. Complaints against CTV operators/FM Radio and satellite channels for poor service or any violation can be lodged at No 111-736-111 or rgm-khi@pemra.gov.pk.
