Shaukat suicide attack case adjourned for March 14

The Anti-Terrorist Court has sent to Adiala Jail on judicial remand the suspects of suicide attack on Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, and sought advice of provincial home ministry on application by SP Attock for trial in jail. The Anti-Terrorist Court Judge for Rawalpindi and Capital Territory, Safder Hussain Malik, started hearing and recorded the statements of the injured and relatives of the persons who died in the incident.
The prosecution failed to present charge-sheet against the accused Qari Siddiq, Qari Ahmed Khan, Noor Badshah, Abdul Munim, Abdul Basit, Nisar Ahmed and Muhammad Suleman.
The court recorded statements of nine persons who said that they would have no objection if one of the accused, Suleman, would be acquitted for becoming approver.
The accused persons told the court that they were mistreated in jail. The court advised their counsel to submit a separate application in this regard. The court fixed March 14 for next hearing and adjourned the case.
