Women role termed vital for uplift

The Governor of Punjab Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd) addressing Fatima Jinnah Medal ceremony on the occasion of World Women's Day at Governor's House here on Tuesday said the present government wanted 50 per cent of women population in the country to play an increased role in the national development endeavours. He added women must get their rights and government would not brook any injustice to them in the country.
The Governor speaking of women participation in Muslim countries said it was minimal and Islamic countries were suffering much because of that reason.
Provincial Minister Ashifa Riaz Fatiana also spoke on the occasion.
