Diplomatic missions asked to help improve trade ties

Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Mian Misbahur Rehman has said that the diplomatic missions have much role to play in enhancing trade and investment ties, as they not only eliminate misconceptions about their country, but also open up new vistas for business community. He was addressing a 26-member delegation of 16th Advanced Diplomatic Course for Mid-Career Diplomats. Foreign Services Academy Director Amjad Ali Sher led the delegation. LCCI Senior Vice President Sohail Lashari and Vice President Sheikh Mohammad Arshad also spoke on the occasion.
Misbah urged the visiting diplomats to introduce Pakistani culture in their respective countries and make this world a global village in true sense. About LCCI's role, he said, the chamber is acting as an effective voice of business community in policy corridors and it also issues certificate of origin, visa recommendatory letters and these services would help the business community in saving much of their valuable time.
Sohail Lashari informed the delegation about the global economic changes. He said that the world is now progressing on very fast track and in these circumstances a diplomat's role is very crucial and a good diplomat could do a lot for his or her country.
He said that Pakistan is now on the road of political and economic stability. It needs the positive response of the foreign investment to prove its worth as an attractive investment destination.
