Aga Khan Education Board (AKEB) would not give affiliation to any government school, while no such school in the private sector would be affiliated that was already not registered with the government. Agha Khan University President Shamsh Kassim Lakha informed this to the Punjab Chief Secretary Kamran Rasool in a meeting held here on Thursday, says an official. The Punjab Additional Chief Secretary, Secretary Education as well as Aga Khan University Education Board Director Thomas Christie and Director Education Development were also present on the occasion.
Shamsh Kassim Lakha added initially Aga Khan Board would give affiliation to only a few private educational institutions of the country and would conduct examination of 5,000 to 7,000 students during the first year. "While in the next five years, arrangements will be made for conducting examination of 27,000 students, which is two per cent of the total number of students. The board will teach only the syllabus approved by the government, however, attention will be paid to improve the standard of education to the international level," he added.
Regarding the questionnaire given to the students, he said the Aga Khan University had not issued it. Matters regarding capacity building of teachers and their training in accordance with the demands of modern age also came under discussion during the meeting.
